PhD Candidate, Department of Educational Studies
Ashenafi is a PhD candidate in the Department of Educational Studies at UBC. His research focuses on the public-intellectual praxis in the universities in the Global North with emphasis on intellectuals in Canada and the United States of America. His research work is informed by methods in literary art and their potential applicability in educational research. Ashenafi received his MA in English Language and Literature from Addis Ababa University, and has worked as an assistant professor and community service liaison officer at Gondar University for the last several years.
