Maria Angélica Guerrero-Quintana

Maria was born and raised in Colombia, where she graduated as an Anthropologist and developed her work as an artisan and weaver. For the last 4 years, Maria has been working on community building, peace education and conflict transformation through a feminist based work using arts, theatre and game-based learning with teachers, community leaders and youth in different regions of Colombia. Maria’s research interests include the notions of peace and subversive peace; education among social movements; ethics & arts-based peacebuilding; education for post-conflict and transitional justice stages; social-emotional learning for community rebuilding. At UBC Maria is part of the Conflict Theatre Community of Practice, a Human Resources project that uses embodied and experiential methods of theatre to transform ways to engage in conflict.
