Neil Bassan

MA student, Department of Educational Studies

Neil Bassan is a graduate (MA) student and research assistant in the department of educational studies. His interests include adult education, the history of the academic institution and of schooling, as well as socialization, and the philosophy of education, more generally. He is currently a youth and family worker at the Richmond Youth Service Agency, a charitable, non-profit organization; as well as a director at the Thompson Community Association.

Outside of his studies, Neil has served on the editorial board for the academic journal Film Matters; and has completed a senior internship with the open-access film studies journal Mise-en-scène: The Journal of Film & Visual Narration, working as a copyeditor and layout specialist for the publication. In 2016 as part of his apprenticeship in the digital humanities, he served as a community outreach assistant for the official documentary film festival of Kwantlen Polytechnic University, KDocs.
