Dr. Sarah Shamash’s interdisciplinary research centers Latin American Cinema, Indigenous film and media, and feminist praxis. Her research creation often explores identities and geographies as personal, political, feminine and porous, while critiquing and subverting fixed, colonial and hegemonic demarcations of the body, territory, and space. Her curatorial practice and teaching extend into the classroom and public sphere modeling interdisciplinary and decolonial approaches to film studies, speculative worlding, and studio art practices.
